    These 20 super-duper-heavy-duty-jumbo-wooden-spring-pegs (sing it to the tune of supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins) are the most robust spring pegs you will lay your eyes on, and are a customer favourite for hanging the washing. They are waxed so they won't get grubby as quickly as other spring pegs and the stainless coil spring is really nice and strong.

    Instructions: the manufacturer recommends soaking the pegs before first use in hot water with a spoonful of Soda Crystals to cleanse of any excess wax on the wood - if you don't have any soda crystals then a spoonful of washing powder/liquid should do the same job.

    Sodium carbonate required

    These look sturdy, but I wouldn't have ordered these had I known that I would have to order sodium carbonate at further expense to soak the pegs before use. This caused a delay in starting to use them.

    I'm sorry you weren't totally happy with your pegs! I know the majority of people who use the pegs don't do this step and have no issues, I think it's a precaution (included on the packaging by manufacturer) to remove any excess wax and thus prevent staining. If it helps, a spoonful of washing powder/liquid should do the same job. I'll add these instructions to the product page.

    Quite a strong spring but not the strongest
