This is one of those products that really does live up to the phrase "buy once, buy well". Is it a little more expensive than your average garlic press? Yes. But after using it, you'll understand why.
We have a bricks-and-mortar shop, so we get to talk to a lot of people about the things they use every day. A surprisingly common request is for a garlic press that actually works properly. The Kuhn Rikon Epicurean is the one we recommend.
Unlike many garlic presses that simply crush and bruise the garlic, the Epicurean has bevelled holes that finely cut the clove. This gives you a fine, even result and helps bring out the flavour of the garlic.
The powerful lever does most of the work, requiring around 60% less effort than a conventional press, while the comfortable handles make it easy to grip and use. The stainless steel sieve swings out from the press, making it much easier to clean afterwards.
It's a proper, well-made kitchen tool rather than something you'll be replacing every couple of years. Made from stainless steel and backed by Kuhn Rikon's 90 years of Swiss precision, it's the sort of thing that should earn its place in the kitchen for a very long time.
