These woven copper cleaning cloths are remarkably effective for tackling stubborn dirt, baked-on food, limescale, and grime without resorting to harsh chemicals. Used with water, they are marketed by the manufacturer as non-scratch and are suitable for many hard surfaces, including stainless steel and chrome.

They're particularly useful on pots, pans, sinks, hobs, and oven dishes. We'd always recommend testing first on an inconspicuous area, however, and they should never be used on Teflon, non-stick coatings, or delicate painted surfaces.

Unlike many copper-coated scourers, these are made from woven copper fibre and are designed to last. The double-layer construction provides extra strength, and they can even be washed in the washing machine when they need freshening up.

I love these copper cloths

I love these copper cloths. They are really effective and actually non scratchy for cleaning pans and stuck on food. Highly recommend them. The service and delivery were excellent.

Heima claims to be Eco. How is this cloth Eco?

The thread used to weave the copper wire into a cloth is synthetic - I tested it with a flame and it melts. It makes up half, if not more of the cloth with each synthetic thread being composed of many very fine filaments which will break during use as it rubs against the abrasive copper wires shedding tiny bits of microplastic which will end up being washed into the sewage system. Micro and nano plastic in the sea and the environment is already a huge problem. Cotton or some type of natural thread would avoid this completely!

You’re right that the binding thread used in this cloth is synthetic. I wasn’t previously aware of this detail, and I’ll pass your comments on to the manufacturer for consideration.

The copper is mounted over the threads and is the primary abrasive and wearing material, so the threads themselves shouldn’t be making much direct contact during use. That said, it’s not a perfect product, and we try to be honest about that. Compared to many similar cleaning options, it still avoids foams, coatings and short-lived plastics, but it’s ultimately up to each customer to decide whether it suits their needs and priorities.

No going back with copper cloths

Copper cloths are incredible to remove those tough grease marks on your pots and pans without scratching them. I have induction hob saucepans so have to be careful with scrubbing them - these do the job great and with not much effort! Always visit Heima to stock up! Give them a try you won’t regret it!
