  • Perennial Hand Spade, Forged Boron Steel

    Title
    Only 2 left

A wonderfully useful halfway house between a hand trowel and a full-sized border spade.

These De Wit hand spades are perfect for working in crowded borders where a long-handled spade feels cumbersome but a hand trowel doesn't quite provide enough reach or leverage. They're ideal for planting, dividing perennials, lifting smaller plants, and tackling jobs between established shrubs and border plants.

Unlike many hand spades, the blade is supplied with a sharp cutting edge to help slice through roots and compacted soil with ease. The solid ash handle provides excellent strength and comfort in use.

De Wit tools are handmade in Holland from Swedish boron steel - the same type of steel used for bulldozer blades. They've been making tools for over 120 years, so it's fair to say they know a thing or two about building them to last.
