The Bread Bags are handmade from sturdy organic cotton treated with beeswax, organic jojoba oil and pine resin. They are large enough to hold a huge sourdough loaf or a couple of small loaves. They keep bread fresh for longer, without it losing its crust. They can be reused again and again and when you’re done with them, they can be chucked in the compost where they will biodegrade.
Handmade in the UK using ethically sourced raw materials - the cotton is made from GOTS certified organic thread which is woven on household power looms in Kerala, India. Organic cotton is grown in healthier soil - organic cotton farmers use traditional techniques such as crop rotation and natural fertilisation, which results in soil that stores nutrients, water and carbon. Farmers are able to save their seeds from the prior year harvest and are not exposed to damaging pesticides. Crop diversity and rotation reduces food insecurity for the farmers, and biodiversity is benefited and pollinating insects are allowed to flourish. Chemical run off into the water supplies from fabric processing is massively reduced and the fabric itself is not laced with harmful chemicals.
Also, a tree is planted by OneTreePlanted for each bread bag sold! Lovely!
