Beech is the most common wood used in Opinel natural wood handles - the handle is varnished to be protected against moisture and dirt. The painted handles use Hornbeam - this white wood with few veins is ideal for applying colour. PEFC-certified, the wood comes from eco-managed farms in the Jura and Vercors regions of France.
