fermentation-weights
Kilner Glass Fermentation Weights

A glass fermentation weight from Kilner, made to sit on top of your vegetables and keep them pressed below the brine while they ferment. It's the simple fix for the most common fermenting problem: anything that floats above the liquid is exposed to air, which is where mould and spoilage start.

Whether you're making sauerkraut, kimchi, fermented pickles or hot sauce, a weight keeps everything evenly submerged so the whole batch ferments properly. Being glass, it's non-porous and won't absorb smells, colours or flavours from one batch to the next, so the same weight can go from chillies to cabbage without any carry-over.

A rounded knob on top makes it easy to lift out and reposition, even with wet hands, and it also works with tongs if you'd rather keep your fingers out of the jar. The 70mm size is designed to fit wide mouthed preserve jars.

Comes in a gift box, so it makes a useful present for anyone getting into fermenting, especially alongside one of our Le Parfait jars.

Glass fermentation weight with lifting knob

Sizes: 70mm or 79mm diameter

Wash before first use

Don't use with boiling or hot water
